They are embarrassing symptoms that people are often reluctant to seek help for.<\/p><p>Poor bladder control can be caused by \u2013<\/p><ul><li>Pregnancy<\/li><li>Childbirth<\/li><li>Pelvic surgery (hysterectomy\/ prolapse repair for women, prostate surgery in men)<\/li><li>Constipation<\/li><li>Being overweight (BMI &gt;25)<\/li><li>Lack of physical exercise<\/li><li>Smoking<\/li><li>Menopause<\/li><li>Ageing<\/li><\/ul><p>A neurological condition (MS, stroke, spinal injury)<\/p><p>There is good research evidence that pelvic floor muscle exercises and bladder training can help. Here at Park Physiotherapy, our <strong>Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Gemma Barnes<\/strong>, will find out what is causing your bladder problem and start a treatment programme specifically for you.<\/p><p><strong>Bowels symptoms<\/strong><\/p><p>Leakage from the bowels is less frequent than from the bladder. It affects 1-10% of UK adults and can be more embarrassing and difficult to manage.<\/p><p><strong>Bowel leakage can be associated with:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Ageing<\/li><li>Loose stools from any cause<\/li><li>Childbirth<\/li><li>Bowel conditions such as haemorrhoids (haemorrhoid surgery)<\/li><li>Fistulas<\/li><li>Irritable bowel syndrome<\/li><li>Inflammatory bowel disease<\/li><li>Diverticular disease<\/li><li>Bowel resection surgery<\/li><li>Constipation<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0As well as all the factors mentioned that affect the bladder.
